Thurrock Christian Fellowship is a registered Charity, and one of our aims is to bring relief and ongoing support to the poor and needy in our community. We mainly to do this through our foodbank – “Thurrock Foodbank” – which is part of the national Trussell Trust set up.
Over 13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK. Every day people go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill whilst on a low income. Trussell Trust Foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people in such crisis.
Over the last year Foodbanks fed over 1.1 million people, and approximately one third of these were children. Rising food and fuel prices, static income, underemployment and changes to benefits are some of the reasons why increasing numbers are being referred to Foodbanks for emergency food.
Trussell Trust partners with churches and communities to operate foodbanks nationwide. Thurrock Foodbank in partnership with Thurrock Christian Fellowship is one of those.
The Thurrock Foodbank main warehouse is situated at 2 - 4 Chase Road, Corringham SS177QH and is open mainly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. From there, food is delivered to 10 distribution centres across Thurrock where people can redeem a voucher for an emergency food parcel which should cover a person or family’s food needs for 3 days. To obtain a voucher please contact Help For Hardship on 0808 2082138 Mon to Fri 9am to 5pm
