Thurrock Christian Fellowship Temporary Closure

Dear TCF Members

The leadership has considered the latest advice from the UK Government and Public Health England.  We have also taken note of the decisions of other churches and organisations.  Most importantly, we have prayed about matters and sought God’s advice too.

Our conclusion is that for the next two weeks at least we will place a pause on all TCF meetings and gatherings.  This in itself will be a sensible decision and supports our government as it seeks to lead our country through this crisis. Secondly we are aware that even though we know have considerable space to meet in, we are aware that a number of people have taken the decision for reason or another to self-isolate, which means much fewer people are available to gather together.

Practically this means that we will not be  having a Sunday morning gathering, a Seeking God time together or physically meeting together in homes for Community Groups. Instead we are directing people to other resources and means that may be helpful for us at this time. This include:-

  • Right Now Media – in the Thurrock Christian Fellowship channel we will be adding some dvd resources that will help us to continue our teaching themes on the book of Colossians and Psalms.
  • Worship – there is plenty to choose from on You Tube – but we particularly draw your attention to “Bethel Worship” – which is very good and relevant to us.
  • Virtual Community Groups – our Community groups will in a lighter way continue at their normal times and days – i.e. Mondays at 10.30am, Tuesdays at 7.45pm and Fridays at 8pm. However instead of meeting all together we will be providing the opportunity for everyone in the group to link up together for a short time via Zoom video conferencing. How this works is very simple – the community group leader sends out an email and just before the start you just need to click on the link in the email sent and then choose video option. Don’t worry if you are not skilled in I.T. please speak with David Acreman is available to help out anyone to get this set up. Just contact him on 07505 104820 and he will gladly help you.

Also if anyone does have any of the virus symptoms and / or self isolates – please let any of the leaders know so we can pray and help with any practical needs.

Thurrock Foodbank which is part of TCF will continue to operate within the NHS guidelines and will remain open as this is an essential resource to the community. Treasure Children Forever PreSchool will also remain open as the Government has asked all such educational providers to do so to look after vulnerable children and children of key workers.

We appreciate that at this time there is a considerable amount of anxiety and fear around but as we shared last week – having the love of God in our lives – it casts out all fears ( 1 John 4:18)

Let us remember that Jesus is our healer and let us not give in to a wave of ‘fear’ that seems to be sweeping the nation.  But let us stand up and exercise our faith, confident that He who stands beside us is faithful.

We believe that at this time God is asking us for His Bride, to begin to show her true colours to the darkness and chaos of this world:  “The Lord is 'ahead of the curve', and is in control of every situation and every event in the universe.  He is executing his plan; he is the Miracle Worker and the Promise Keeper.  "You can trust me - I know what I am doing - and it is part of the New Thing that I am forging worldwide in society and in my Church.  Nothing worthwhile is ever forged in your comfort zone, so I am dismantling its walls from around you.  No longer will you try to winnow in a winepress!  This is a 'Gideon Moment' where I am calling my Bride to show her face, to destroy her idols, to burn her bridges and to take the lead in rescuing this nation.".  (See Judges 6). Let us prayer along these lines.

We will continue to keep everyone updated as best we can during this time.

Thank you and every blessing,

TCF Leaders.
